“B70″ stands for vineyards of more than 70 years old.

THE HARVEST

We strive to achieve healthy vines and grapes with a great aromatic and colorimetric concentration. In the case of this wine, very old and  special vineyards of an average age of 70 years but very low-yielding, located in the high ground around the village of Samaniego and in the foothills of Sierra Cantabria. Sustainable manual agriculture in harmony with nature is practiced. The harvesting is carried out on dry sunny days, with grapes ripening to their optimum level to maintain healthiness and contribute to high quality grapes.

VINIFICATION

100% Tempranillo. Long pre-fermantative macerations that allow to extract all the primary scents of these amazing grapes. The grapes are fermented in open, 600-litre (demi-muid) French oak barrels. Then the wine, along with its lees, are put in new French oak barrels, of extrafine grain that are stored in special rooms that lend a very particular personality to the wine. The ageing process last 22 months, the must is of such intensity and concentration that this long ageing after fermentation doesn’t affect the wonderful expression of fruit.

12 months in the bottle ageing cellar complete the process.

 

TASTING NOTES

Colour: Picota cherry intense color
Nose: Ripe fruit scent with mineral nuances
Palate: Maximum expression of the complexity typical of BAGOIRRI, round and very balanced between the tannins coming from the specially selected wood and those belonging to the grape. Very long and persistent after taste.
Food matches: It’ll be a good companion to any high-cuisine plate. It’s also a good match for red meats, game birds and iberian hams.
