A vision to revolutionize Rioja
Don Diego Quintano y Quintano was born in Labastida, a town in the heart of Rioja Alavesa. After a brief military career in southern Spain, he returned to Rioja in 1783 and dedicated his life to viticulture alongside his younger brother Manuel. His main interest was the production of wines aged in barrels, a new technique then unknown in Spain.
In 1786 Diego sent his brother Manuel Quintano to Bordeaux to learn the barrel-aging methods used in the Medoc. In 1787 Manuel returned home with a recipe that has become characteristic of this winery to make wine like in the Bordeaux region
The first vintage in 1790, the Quintano brothers began the revolutionary vinification of Tempranillo aged in barrels and were even able to ship their wines to Cuba. Manuel Quintano and his brother Diego were the true revolutionaries and visionaries of Rioja, 100 years ahead of their time

Care with care and detail
This range of wines was created in honor of the town where they were born and worked. 50 hectares of premium vineyards of old vines make up the estate behind this unique wine project.
The wines are handcrafted in small batches, fermented parcel by parcel in open barrels and carefully aged in quality French oak.
