Bodegas Irache
The Heart of the Kingdom of Navarre
The wines of the Royal House of Navarra
Bodegas Irache, located in Ayegui, at the foot of Montejurra and two kilometers from the town of Estella, was founded in 1891. It is a family business, although its vineyards had already supplied wine to the Royal House of Navarra in the 12th century, thanks to the work carried out for centuries by the Benedictine monks in the Irache Monastery.
The monastery was founded in the 11th century as the first hospital for pilgrims on the Camino de Santiago. Several periods of growth and development have made Irache the recognized brand that it is today.
Jesús Santesteban Arteaga became the real promoter and catalyst when he took charge of the winery in 1951; Totally committed, he equipped it with state-of-the-art facilities, obtaining awards and recognition in international competitions.
